When is the right time to start Antenatal Classes?

Although I always get super excited to be meeting a new group of Mums -2- Be when starting a new series of Antenatal Classes, I also know many women delay booked a course and are not sure when is the best time…..

So I’m here to answer that question!

Ideally you should embark on a series of antenatal courses in your second trimester. Why? We’ll it gives you time to learn, expand and deepen your knowledge in the areas of birth that start to become important to you as you go along.

A positive birth experience mostly comes from feeling empowered, not frightened and listened to. So knowing what you want, how you feel about the different choices you may be presented with, and feeling confident to articulate yourself (with the help of your birth partner) on the big day is really really important.

You can’t get comfortable with all of that information in a short space of time. It takes time…. Time to listen, to read, to research, to talk it over, to explore.

I can’t tell you the number of women I have met who say to me ‘I wish I had known….’ when discussing their birth experience. Don’t be that woman. Be informed.

Choose a comprehensive antenatal class that gives you all of the options, supports your choices and gives you the tools and confidence to approach it all with some kick-ass-mum-2-be confidence!
