MAMBA Hypnobirthing
Session 2
Welcome back “hypnobirthers”…
I hope you have all been well since the last session and started to tap into your body’s own ability to relax. If you have been using the guided relaxation from last week then that’s fantastic! It is recommended with hypnosis for birth, that you practice the relaxations multiple times right up until your baby’s birthing day enabling a continued deepening of not only the positive messaging and imagery, but also training your mind and body to fall easily into your own self (or guided) hypnotic state.
This session we asked the big WHAT IF? question and used a shortened version of a therapeutic tool, called Solution Focused Questioning, to enable us to think past some of the mental barriers which our minds have put up in response to negative messaging around labour and birth which has peppered our lives to date. Below is a copy of the questioning format, and if you wanted to take a pen to paper and tackle any other limiting beliefs or worries holding you back then please do so in a journal!
Our focus in the hypnosis session was around confidence in birthing, and I hope the session allowed some of you to tap into a more confident mindset and start to visualise your positive birth experience which lies ahead.
Please take a moment now to enjoy this TED talk from Ina May Gaskin (a queen in the birth world) who enjoys sharing her learning journey into how fear impacts birth.....a must watch for any expecting mothers and partners.
“ We are the only species to doubt our ability to give birth”
I don’t want to bombard you with too much further reading this week, so instead I will link you across to some great positive birth stories available online, as well as some good social media to follow and podcasts to enjoy when out walking the dog or driving (my favourite Theta Brain Wave Place for things to go in!)
There are many more out there you can choose to follow, so below are a few more if you want to add them to your news feed. Please do also share any more you find in our chat group for others to enjoy!
Firstly- follow the hastag #positivebirthstories
In the next session we will be looking at developing your surge resources (which just means finding some visualistions and analogies that resonate with you, which you can use working through the surges of your labour contractions).
Please do find the time to listed to this weeks relaxation a few more times before we meet again. Any questions or worries in the mean time, just drop me an message.
Happy Bypnobirthing!
Nicola
